Why Baklava?

Baklava became a pandemic obsession - experimenting with tastes, syrups, and combinations reaching versions that just had to be shared. The Persian Table is bringing baklava to the DC area with unique Persian flavors: Orange Cardamom, Sour Cherry Cinnamon, Rose, and Persian Lime Coconut. Find us at local markets and pop-up events in DC - follow us on Instagram for upcoming dates and locations!

Past Participation

The Persian Table started in 2017 as the Saffron Society, a series of donation dinners featuring Persian foods to raise money for organizations that focus on advancing and defending civil rights and social justice, following post-election attacks on civil liberties and Americans of Middle Eastern descent. This concept evolved into Kabobs for a Cause, providing a pandemic-safe Persian food pick-up option in 2020, 2021, and 2024. Good food in exchange for good deeds has raised $6,990 in direct donations across these events for organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), Black Lives Matter, and Gaza relief efforts.

Meet Your Makers

It has been said that we each have a serious sweet tooth.

Our logo combines a simplified faravahar— a ubiquitous symbol in Iranian culture— with a fork and spoon, the most common utensils found on the Persian table.

The faravahar represents Zoroastrian principles of good thoughts, good words, good deeds. We’ll have more opportunities to bring this goodness together with food!
